Kyle went to the National Association of REALTORS® conference in Boston this past November. Below are some slides that NAR® released during that conference on Wealth Building. The data shows us that homeowners naturally build more wealth than renters.
Homeownership continues to be a strong long-term investment tool for building wealth while also creating your ideal home life. Your home becomes a place for monthly investing while also seeing natural market growth.
Homeowners gained over $50,000 in equity in their homes from 2000 to 2018. In comparison, renters have not grown their wealth during that time. Renters continue to pay into someone else’s investment (i.e., a landlord). Even with a market crash in 2008-2009, homeowners continued to see wealth gain from 2000 to 2018 as they held onto their Real Estate as a long-term investment.
We have found that our lives are built around the memories we make, and the families that build wealth together create lasting connections and a legacy.
