Neighborhood Spotlight: West End

Neighborhood Spotlight: West End

You’ve probably seen photos of Nashville’s full-scale replica of the Parthenon. Add some delicious restaurants, a wide array of festivals, incredible venues, and one of Nashville’s best parks, and you have West End.

West End has a lot to offer in the food category. Start with Mason’s, a delicious southern-inspired restaurant located in the Vanderbilt Hotel with an interesting twist. Mason’s offers a wide variety of southern foods while exploring the Appalachian foodways and always using the freshest ingredients. If you’re in the mood for Italian, try Maggiano’s. Their menu features classic pastas and flatbreads as well as chicken, seafood, steak, and veal options, and their desserts are delightful.

Arguably Nashville’s original burger joint, Roiter’s Restaurant has been a favorite since 1945, offering delicious burgers and other southern cuisine. Looking for a fun-filled place to take the kids for dinner or to go watch the big game with friends? Jed’s Sports Bar & Grille is the place to go. Offering what is likely the most TVs of any Nashville Restaurant, Jed’s always has something for everyone. There is a foosball table and darts, as well as corn hole, out in the front yard when the weather is nice! On Thursdays, Jed’s has Trivia Night, and on Fridays, Lightning 100 hosts Writer’s Night on the upstairs patio!

Traditionally not an area known for shopping, the West End does feature several destination shops. If you’re looking to step up your wardrobe, J. Michaels Clothiers is the place to go. Offering brands such as Barbour, Peter Millar, and Santoni, the great staff at J. Michaels will have you looking your best. If you’re feeling adventurous, just down the road is Cumberland Transit, where you can find anything and everything you may need for an outdoor excursion. Or head to Spirit of Nashville and pick up a beautiful piece of Music City artwork.

Centennial Park is a Nashville staple. Home to the full-scale replica of the Parthenon, this beautiful park hosts several events throughout the year. In the spring and fall seasons, Musicians Corner takes over the park every Saturday and has free live music, a kids' corner, and some of Nashville’s best food trucks! The Nashville Shakespeare Festival hosts Shakespeare in the Park, a free production of some of The Bard’s best works, during the summertime.

The Parthenon is one of Nashville’s most iconic places. Not only is it a full-scale replica of the Greek temple, it’s the world’s only one of its kind. Inside stands the largest indoor sculpture in the Western World, Athena Parthenos, at 42 feet tall. It also houses its own art gallery, which has different exhibits year-round.

West End has proved itself to be one of Nashville’s most interesting neighborhoods. Have you checked it out yet?
